SUMMARY:Eat Your Heart Out
DESCRIPTION:A socially distanced communal dining experience benefitting the Center \nWhat do we do when we can’t gather all together? We gather separately… together… to benefit the Center. \nHere’s how it works. \n\n\n\nFolks who are part of the Center’s community\, whether you live in CB\, Gunnison\, Santa Cruz\, Dallas\, or anywhere in between\, volunteer to host a dinner party. Our goal is to have 70 parties hosted over three dates this summer. Hosts cover the costs of the party and can choose any theme or cuisine they like (casual backyard BBQ\, taco night\, or catered five-course meal) – anything goes.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nInvite the guests of your choice\, up to the maximum allowed by the current public health order in your area. Help the Center raise needed funds by asking each of your guests to make a tax-deductible donation. (You decide what donation amount best fits your party and your guests!) The Center will provide you with printed invitations to snail mail (along with a reply card for your guests’ donations so you don’t have to worry about collecting them!) or digital invitations to email (along with a link to donate online).\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nHost your party on one of the following dates.* The Center will send you or deliver to you a special\, surprise favor for each guest (a different one for each date!).\n\nFriday\, June 26\nFriday\, July 24\nFriday\, August 21\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nEnjoy gathering with friends while supporting the Center – and knowing that dozens of others are doing the same thing on the same night! \n* If you’d like to host but are unavailable on these dates\, never fear! You can host your party any time. \nInterested in hosting a party?\nShoot us a message at info@crestedbuttearts.org and we’ll be in touch soon! \nAnd stay tuned for more information…

The first composer\, Jesse Montgomery\,is amongst the most important young composers today; her work\, “Starburst\,” was performed at CBMF in 2017 with Tito Munoz leading the Crested Butte Festival Symphony. The second work is by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor\, the Romantic Afro-English composer. Don’t miss an opportunity to hear these great works!   The Ivalas’ mission is to present and represent composers and musicians of color\, and they do so with energy\, thoughtfulness\, and passion. Recently awarded first prize in the 2019 WDAV Young Artists Chamber Music Competition\, the Ivalas Quartet also took first prize 2018 Briggs Chamber Music Competition and was named a semifinalist group at both the M-Prize competition and Concert Artists Guild competition in New York. The Ivalas was the 2018 Fellowship Quartet at the Bowdoin International Music Festival and in 2017 the group was named the Fellowship String Quartet at the Anchorage Chamber Music Festival. Ivalas’ members are from both the black and latinx communities and the group was formed with the intent to play a part in bringing greater visibility to musicians of color. They say\, “We feel a strong responsibility to not only play with all of our hearts but to strive for the highest standard of playing in every performance and to be living proof of the power of diversity in all art forms.” \nWebsite: http://ivalasquartet.com/   \nVideo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUinx2IOUF8 \nCLICK HERE FOR TICKETS

SUMMARY:CB Music Fest: Home Soiree - The Music of Django Reinhardt
DESCRIPTION:Performers: Hot House West Trio \nQuote: “Few modern jazz groups play music that is both readily accessible and deeply sophisticated. Hot House West has built their home at that rarest of intersections.” \nOne of the country’s most exciting young jazz bands is coming to Crested Butte to perform music by the founder of gypsy jazz\, Django Reinhardt. Hot House West just released an album of Django’s music and it’s amazing! (https://hothousewest.bandcamp.com/album/django-in-orbit) The band takes a traditional approach to Django’s music\, and their performances will transport you to 1930s Paris. \nDjango Reinhardt was the founder of the style of jazz known as “gypsy jazz.” He blended Parisian jazz of the 1930s with the chromaticism of gypsy music that he learned from his Romani upbringing. While dying suddenly of a stroke at only 43 years of age\, his music has defined an entire genre that today is flourishing. Hot House West brings this music to life like no other!
